Genesee Park Bison Herd in Snow

Bison in snow often conjures up images of Yellowstone National Park in winter, but fortunately for me, some descendants of the Yellowstone bison reside just up the highway from me in Genesee Park, part of Denver’s Mountain Parks. (Here is another article on the buffalo herd, as they describe it, though technically they are bison, not buffalo.)

Since moving back to the area I had thought about photographing them in the snow, but that requires both for the bison to be close enough to a fence and, of course, snow. Recently, I noticed both were present while on the way back from skiing with a friend, so I dropped my skis off at home, grabbed the camera, and headed back to the park.

Here are a couple of shots from that afternoon.
