Fall in the Tetons – 2020

Fall in the Tetons – 2020

After the trip to Rocky Mountain National Park we headed to Grand Teton National Park. I had been all around Grand Teton – to the north, east, and south – but never actually to Grand Teton National Park proper.

What better time to check it out than during fall. Below are a few of my favorites from early October.

My favorite photo of the trip, taken after arriving our first evening. The soft, golden light. The iconic Grand Teton. The hint of fall colors. All the ingredients for a great photo were there that evening.

Fall in Rocky Mountain National Park – 2020

Fall is hands-down my favorite season. I plan photography trips months in advance with the excitement really kicking in when the first leaves in the mountains start to change in late August. Then the days become noticeably shorter and the mornings a little cooler and a little crisper.  Finally, by late September it’s prime time for fall colors and wildlife photography.

When I lived in Washington State, I’d travel to the Cascades to photograph the larches. In California I’d travel to the eastern Sierra. And in Colorado, Rocky Mountain National Park has often been a second home during fall.

Below are a few of my favorites from this fall, all taken during the last week of September.

This fall wasn’t the best for the aspens in terms of their yellow leaves, but you can always find pockets of great color.

Close to home

The pandemic caused the postponement of multiple trips this year for me (minor in the grand scheme of things, I know), but it has one silver lining in that I’ve increased exploring of my local town with camera in hand.

From evening walks in snow among deserted streets to summer sunsets, here are a few of my favorite photos closer to home in Arvada, Colorado.

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) normally hosts local artists several times a year at their offices in Washington Park, Denver, including public viewings. In 2018, VOC hosted one such show for me and at the start of 2020 they kindly invited me back to do another show later this year.

And then, well, you know…

Display consultation and printing

Display consultation and printing

In a world of digital photography it’s increasingly rare to print photos or even see a photo larger than a screen on your phone or laptop.

Therefore, I’m always excited when I do have opportunities to print, whether it’s for a show, a client, or friends, as was a recent case.
